Villa Poggio Salvi will participate to the next Merano Wine Festival 2018, which will be held at the Kurhaus – C.so Libertà 33, Merano (BZ).

The VPS stand will be placed inside the Sala Rotunde – Toscana at position 142.

Our selected wines for tasting will be: Brunello Pomona 2013, Brunello Riserva 2012 and, for what concerns Monday’s historical vintages, Brunello 1994.

Some dried flowers and woody notes with red berries and cherries. The palate has a frame of sturdy tannins around ripe red plums and dark berries. Some herbal notes and a little chew to close. Try from 2020.

A blue-fruited Chianti with pressed violets, blackcurrants and peppermint. Some good depth to this medium-to full-bodied Chianti, which remains fruity and fresh. Drink now.

Aromas of flowers, cherries and citrus following through to a medium to full body with firm and fine tannins. A fresh and delicious finish.

Concentrated ruby. Compact nose that is not open yet and with the merest suggestion of Moroccan leather. Youthful fruit that is a little vibrant with crunchy firm tannins. Quite complete and with great balance, but definitely in need of more time.

His red offers purity and grace, backed by a sold structure. Strawberry and cherry flavors abound, matched to an elegant frame, with a firm line of tannins underneath. The bright fruit peeks through at the end, delivering equilibrium and a lingering aftertaste. Best from 2022 through 2037.

This is expressive, offering ripe cherry, strawberry and floral aromas and flavors, with accents of iron, earth and stone. Firmly structured, balanced and long, delivering a lingering note of tobacco. Best from 2021 through 2035.

Villa Poggio Salvi will attend the next edition of Vinexpo Hong Kong that will take place on next May 29th to 31st.

Given the recurrence of reports of fake bottles found on the European market, with this report we want to make the situation public in order to warn and protect our customers.

The ones we’re referring to are bottles of Brunello di Montalcino Villa Poggio Salvi 2008 Lot L-B222.

The labels have been printed in a lower definition than the original ones, and the cap is anonymous, while all our caps have a stamped company logo (obviously it can be seen only once the bottle has been uncorked, therefore it’s not immediately possible to notice the difference).

The greatest mistake was made with the application of the DOCG label: on the fake bottles, it is placed in vertical (left image), while in all our original bottles it is placed horizontally around the bottle neck (right image).

For the third year in a row, Villa Poggio Salvi will be the “official supplier” of the Moto GP Aprilia Racing Team.

The wines from Villa Poggio Salvi will be offered for tastings during any of the European Moto GP events inside the Aprilia hospitality area.

The 2013 ‘Pomona’ is a refined and elegant Brunello di Montalcino. It opens to pretty aromatics of red cherries and red plums woven together with spices, licorice, floral and subtle hints of citrus zest all coming together in the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied and beautifully structured around fine, silky tannins. It shows wonderful purity and a lovely balance of fruit and acidity. There is a wonderful austere character, along with a lovely fresh character keeping it vibrant through the long, silky finish. Overall, this is a simply gorgeous wine and a classic Brunello di Montalcino, which should age gracefully for many years to come. A sensational effort from Luca Belingardi.
