Lots of bright fruit here with sliced pears, apricots, grapefruit, waxed lemons and herbs on the nose. Medium to full body, with fleshy, weighty layers, balanced by bright acidity.

Nicely subdued aroma showing red cherry fruits with some fresh green pepper notes. A firm-tannin palate finishes with some warming alcohol.

A lot of energy in the glass with this young Brunello which shows notes of mixed red flowers, camphor, jasmine and withered linden. A lot of sour cherries dominate the secondary scene. Full bodied, tannins decidedly extracted and slightly dusty at the moment and a finale of medium to long persistency.

Tanta energia nel calice in questo giovane Brunello che mostra note di fiori rossi misti, canfora, gelsomino e tiglio appassito. Tante amarene dominano la scena secondaria. Corpo pieno, tannini decisamente estratti e leggermente polverosi al momento ed un finale di media lunga persistenza. [Raffaele Vecchione]

This is chewy and slightly austere with lots of tannins. The fruit is bright, though. Full-bodied with blueberry and mushroom character. Attractive, flavorful finish.

A linear and racy Brunello with plenty of ultra-fine tannins that spread across the palate. Beautiful black-cherry and walnut undertones. It’s refined, yet structured. Bright and energetic, but give it time to come around.

The Villa Poggio Salvi 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva shows the classic lines of the vintage with sharp and detailed fruit followed by crushed stone, grilled herb, licorice root and ferrous earth. The tannins are slightly dry, but they fit into the very polished impression this wine makes on the palate. This is a happy direction for Villa Poggio Salvi. – Monica Larner

Open and noble in the primary profile showing notes of mixed flowers, coriander, passionflower, geraniums and cumin. Medium to full bodied, soft tannins and a tight, vibrant finale which needs time to distend.
