Late Harvest Moscato Grapes fuel the brightness and the intensity of the 2006 Moscadello di Montalcino Vendemmia Tardiva Aurico, a release of 2.666 bottles packaged in 375 milliliter glass. The wine open to a gold or amber color with orange and copper highlights and makes for tasty dippings with some biscotti or shortbread. Aged 14 years after the harvest now, there are caramelized aromas that remind me of Vin Santo with honey, sun-dried apricot, brown sugar and almond marzipan. Traditional Moscadello is usually less opulent than this wine, but there is nothing wrong with abundant sweetness and richness you get here.

Ampio nel bouquet mostra energia nelle note di prugne rosse, more selvatiche e liquirizia dolce. Il sottofondo si rivela con succo di pompelmo e muschio bianco ed evidenzia una bella impostazione solida e precisa. Corpo medio-pieno, strutturato e teso grazie ad i tannini perfettamente estratti mostra una bella progressione ed una tensione da top player. Bevi ora o invecchia alcuni anni.

A beautiful, fruity red with aromas and flavors of cherries, orange peel and hints of cedar. It’s medium-to full-bodied with a pretty core of fruit and a fresh, racy finish.

Good full red-ruby. Sexy but reticent aromas of blackcurrant, red cherry, mocha and smoke. Lush, generous and nicely concentrated, showing a slightly porty ripeness to the flavors of red cherry, blackberry and licorice, but has enough acidity to avoid coming off as heavy. Closes with fine-grained tannins, sweet dark fruits and nicely creamy.

The 2015 Villa Poggio Salvi Brunello di Montalcino ‘Pomona’ is an absolutely gorgeous Brunello. The aromatics are beautiful in this young Brunello, expressive and open, showing striking nuances of cherries, raspberries and currants which all come together and emerge from the glass. On the palate this possesses an elegant medium body, with wonderful vibrancy and a remarkable structure. It goes on to display wonderful purity with a clean precise finish. While this shows flashes of brilliance in its youth, it looks like the best in yet to come for this fabulous Brunello.

This red offers aroma of backed plum, exotic spice, blue flower and new leather. The tight palate reflects the nose, featuring additional tones of dried black cherry, licorice and tobacco alongside firm, fine-grained tannins.

Delizioso al naso nelle note gentili di ciliegie disidratate, fiori rossi e pesca bianca. Gentile e definito nel calice si mostra con un corpo medio, tannini soffici poco estratti ed un finale luminoso. Bevi ora.

The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino shows a mix of savory and sweet, with intense crushed cherry, cedar spice box, and dusty minerals, giving way to undergrowth and hints of sage. On the palate, silky textures are contrasted by intense, tart red berry, cranberry, and spice, with saturating tannins balanced by brisk acids. The finish is long, youthfully austere and tart, as hints of cranberry, saturating spice and saline-minerals slowly fade, leaving a twang of zesty acids.

Deep Ruby. Quite closed and a little ethereal, with slumbering ripe fruit underneath. Perfectly ripe red-cherry fruit lined with grainy tannins. Tangy and gripping on the finish as well as supple. Great length and style.

This is a gorgeous wine from Villa Poggio Salvi in this vintage. This opens to distinctive aromatics with notes of raspberries, currants, rose petals, wild myrtle with a beautiful citrus undertone, which immediately dispenses character and authority. On the palate this is full-bodied and extracted, with powerful tannins, which are velvety and beautifully blend harmoniously into the concentrated finish that expresses all the fruit quality. Already extremely compelling now, however this stunning Brunello should become even more impressive as to evolves over time.

Deep ruby. A concentrated, sweet-savoury nose. Still embryonic and closed on the nose and tightly knit on the palate. Bags of chewy tannins, wich are a great match for the concentrated but not sweet fruit. Gripping fruit finish showing no sign of sweetness-unlike many wines of this vintage.

La nuova guida italiana WinesCritic.com ha conferito il punteggio di 94/100 al Brunello di Montalcino “Pomona” Villa Poggio Salvi 2015.

Aperto al naso mostra note di ciliegie, lamponi e ribes. Vibrante al naso ricorda lo yogurt bianco ed i sentori vivi del post-malolattica. Corpo medio, tannini vibranti, poco estratti ma che donano tensione ed un finale magro e teso nella struttura.

Villa Poggio Salvi sarà presente nei giorni 23 e 24 febbraio, dalle ore 10 alle 18, alla manifestazione Benvenuto Brunello 2020. La nostra posizione sarà Tavolo 2015.

Boysenberry crumble, black raspberries, licorice, treacle tart, forest floor and iron shavings are out in style. There’s pretty crunchiness to the acidity and the tannins have a chalky, spicy feel. Medium-to full-bodied and refined.
